Seat Positions

I am confused as to how PT tracks the seat positions. I always referred to the first to act or the one to the left of the BB as position 1. It seems like PT says that is position 6 in a 9 man table. Help me understand this.

Position is "position off the button". Which means the player on the button is position 0, the cut off (player to the button's right) is 1 and so on. BB is always 8 and SB is always 9.
