HUD STILL causes horrible lag on Stars

Postby brandi1984 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 1:34 am

I'm still having the exact same issues I was experiencing before Build 13 which I elaborated on in these two posts:

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6628
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6877

I've also previously submitted a support ticket, with logs and screenshots; I have no desire to further beta test a product I paid for.

When I go past 4 tables, PT3 starts bogging down my computer.

I will re-iterate yet again:

I have ZERO problems with PT2/PAHud.
I have ZERO problems with PT3 importing hands; it is only when the HUD is active.

What on earth are you guys doing over there?

I apologize for the length of time these fixes are taking. The Hud issues were deeply rooted and needed significant work to fix, and those fixes in turn had problems that needed fixed. We're getting close to having the Hud stable and bug free.

It's nice to know that the reason I bought PT3 is that it was advertised as having "An even faster HUD due to being built-in to PokerTracker". Now, (it appears) you're having to pretty much redo the entire HUD because of how poorly it was programmed.

Multiple video cards (6 monitor display), main one is an NVidia GeForce 7600 GT, but also have 2 NVidia Quadro cards...

does this happen if you take out all these cards and just run one card, one monitor?

Maybe, maybe not, but there's 0 chance I will try it for fear of breaking my warranty, or otherwise horribly damaging my computer in my unskilled, novice, computer illiterate hands.

My guess is that it's possible, but I'm not the only one that I've seen with these complaints. Also, since I run PT2/PAHud w/o a problem, I expect to be able to do the same with PT3.

well seeing as pt3 is a completely re-written app, that doesn't necessarily follow; you have a complex graphics set-up, so if we assume it's this, then if you can't test the theory, i guess you're stuck - also i think it would be unreasonable of the dev.team to try all these complex h/w configs before release.

Yes, it was clearly ridiculous for me to assume that since PT2/PAHud work fine on my computer, that PT3, which has been advertised as "running even more smoothly" than PT2/PAHud, would also work fine.

you have a complex graphics set-up, so if we assume it's this, then if you can't test the theory, i guess you're stuck

I've already tested it by sending logs, screenshots, etc. to PT Support in Build 12 and before. I am experiencing the exact same problem as I was before Build 13. My apologies if that was not clear in my post.

lso i think it would be unreasonable of the dev.team to try all these complex h/w configs before release.

This might hold some water if I were the only person having THESE issues. But, taking a glance at the front page, and from the posts I've read in the past, I'm not. I think tarix said it best:

"I've seen numerous posts concerning this processor usage issue, most with replies of "wait until the next release". My computer slows down enough to make PT3 useless with only 1 table open if I enable the HUD. Is there a solution or not? do we all have to buy supercomputers to use this product? My laptop is only 1.5 years old and has a core duo processor and ran fine with PT2. Does PT3 have to run 12 different postgres.exe processes at once (plus ptrack.exe?)

If so, shouldn't you be running a analysis before install to see if the computer can handle the software before sucking the money from the customer and stating "no refunds"?

IMO, you guys have taken a solid reliable and useful software and ruined it. Good luck with that."

I sincerely hope you do not represent PokerTracker in any way; the old "you're out of luck/you're stuck", coupled with diverting the blame to my setup, never goes over well with customers.

well, all i can say is last night i ran 2 stars mtt's and 5 FTP mtt's all at the same time with the hud performing flawlessly on a dell inspiron laptop under vista with 2GB RAM, Turion Dual-Core and a 5400RPM UDM5 drive with Beta 13 and postgres 8.3...

to quote you, " ...you're out of luck/you're stuck..."

i have given you a possible circumvention to try by reducing the complexity of your graphics, but for your own [good] reasons, you are unable to test it... sobeit... so this passing shot of yours, "...IMO, you guys have taken a solid reliable and useful software and ruined it. Good luck with that..." doesn't really hold water if you are unable to test the circumvention suggested.

Come on lets be serious here. The software is an abomination. I could write an essay on the problems I have had with/still have with it. To your teams credit you do provide support on these forums but that doesn't compensate for a botched piece of software that crashes repeatedly and lags badly on the biggest poker site. I'm just thankful I didn't hand over any cash for this software, if there isn't an update that fixes it all by the time the trial runs out I will switch over to Holdem manager or maybe just go back to PT2.

This is not official, but I would expect the trial to be extended if there are still problems when it runs out..
I assure you we're not happy with the situation either.

Trial? What trial? I paid 80 bucks for this thing on pure faith alone because of how well PTrackPat has handled things in the past; I felt I owed it to the man for the great work he has done and countless times he has helped me in the past.

I certainly wouldn't have bought it without testing it first had I know that PTrackPat sold it to you guys. Obviously, I'm sure keggler will be quick to blame me for buying without testing, and not PT3 for advertising a "faster" (working) HUD.
