WTF: DB reimport screws it all up

Postby pooriver » Wed Aug 06, 2008 11:15 am

Someday I wrote about PT3 not recognizing voluntarily shown hands. Since this issue seems to be fixed now, I wanted to do a full reimport of my db today in order to get those "voluntarily shown" hands into it. After purging my db and reimporting all hh files (i used the original files rather than importing from a prior db export) nothing was like before. In some rare cases PT3 mixed hand histories of Tournaments and Cashgames so I suddenly had cash game earnings of more than $30.000. After further inspection I recognized that an in the mentioned cases a single SnG hand has been appended to the end of a cash game session. Maybe there's some problem "switching" from cashgame import to tourney import, so the first tourney hh of the next file is being added to cash game...

So I purged my db again, and sorted all files to separate directories so I could import cashgame hands and tourney hands separately. First I imported tournament hand histories which seemed to work (i.e. cash game tab had 0 players afterwards, and the stats shown on tourny tab looked familiar). Then I imported the cash game histories, but surprisingly that also added a couple of players to the tourney tab... (before cash hh import: 1750 tourney players, after import 1821). Importing cashgames/tournies separately fixed the problem with mixed hand histories, but my cashgame winnings were still different from what they were before the reimport... All this makes me doubt the correctness of the displayed stats, I have no clue what to believe - were the stats correct before reimport? Or are they now? Or maybe neither nor?

Thanks for your investigations.
If you zip up these hand historied, how big is the file? If it's under 5MB please attach it to a ticket on the Support system , and link to this thread in the reference field of the ticket.

The zipped file is slightly above 8MB. I discovered that the second reimport still didn't work correctly, because not all sessions were imported. Fortunately I had a postgres backup of the database, which I was able to restore. Importing the hand histories that I collected since the backup date worked (it really did! ).

How can I open a ticket with a file that is >5MB?

Please create a ticket and link to this thread, and someone will tell you how to get the file to us.
