Unable to login to database

Postby DanishWiking » Tue Aug 19, 2008 6:56 am

Hey,

I had PT3 running eralier today and everything was runningas planned - HUD was working and it was top nice.
Now I tryed to open PT2 again, and play again. But I get an error:
Unable to login to database(PT3_2008_08_14_085740).
Reasen: server closed the connection unexpectedly This proberly means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request.

Now I have cheeket twice - and I do not a DB called PT3 .... I delited this default DB and created my own and set this to default. There were no problems with that part and I played on and could see that stats after the session in the "Texas Holdem" tab.

What shall I do ?

This normally means the postgres service isn't running. Do you have any postgres processes if you look at Task Manager / Processes?

First thing to try is to restart the postgres service. Start -> Programs -> Postgres -> Start Service.
If this doesn't help, try stopping the service (Start -> Programs -> Postgres -> Stop Service), running a search on your computer for postmaster.pid and then deleting that file, then restarting the service and see if that helps.
Note that you may need to turn on 'View hidden files and folders', and the file seems to be in the folder './Program Files/postgresql/<version>/data', then reboot.

HHmmmm - I could see that I had a Progress service running. But when I tryed to close it doiwn I got a respond that the servie was not running. I could start the service, but got the same result.
Ended up restarting my PC and the starting Progress before starting PT3. Now it seams to work - only problem is that HUD does not take my old stats but only current session stats for me ??

Why is PT3 trying to access/start a DB which does not excist any more ?

Your own stats will only ever be for the current session/table - this is by design, and is intended to show your current table image.
Other players' stats should be 'lifetime'.

That I don't know..
Are you still seeing the message about your old DB?
Please enable logging, reproduce the problem and submit your PokerTracker.log file to the Support system , and link to this thread in the reference field of the ticket.

Are you sure you deleted it properly? Maybe you 'removed' it instead? PT3 should still ignore it, but there may be a difference.
Try running PGAdmin: Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> PGAdmin
and see if you can see the old DB there.

It would be top nice if I could get my session stat on top and lifetime stat below - that way I can see how new players are seeing me, and how old "friends"(I have played many hands with) see me.
Is this possible ?

When I enter the "Database" tab in PT3 and select "Databse Management" I can not see the old DB ....
I will enable logging in case the problem comes up again in the next couple of days.

No, but if you want to know your lifetime stats you should look in the main application reports - you will have a rough idea of what your stats are anyway, surely, and hence how you will appear to others with PT?

Yes, but you may have removed the DB from PT3 but not actually deleted it.
Try clicking 'New' and check 'this database exists' and see if your old database is available to select there. If it is, add it, and then 'Delete' it.
