Beta 16 - housekeeping - update cashe problem

Postby rbakirov » Thu Aug 28, 2008 12:44 am

Hello. I installed beta 16 today and run into following problem: when I run the program it says that my database isn't cashed and recommnds to to housekeeping. I decided to postpone it and started playing. HUD performance was poor, so after couple hours of playing I decided to stop it and housekeep. Clustering, vacuuming and analizing worked ok, but cache updating got me a error.
Pop-up title: "Errors during housekeeping".

Text:
"There were errors during housekeeping process.

Unable to execute query: CREATE TABLE holdem_cache (id_player integer NOT NULL ...... etc etc (really long list of variables) ....);; Reason: Fatal Error (ERROR: realtion "holdem_cashe" already exists)"

I figure that the table in question should be just removed, but I'm unsure of best/safe way of doing it without questioning integrity the database. What is correct course of action?

I went and installed the new beta, it told me to update cache, but I just clicked begin not noticing that all four housekeeping things were selected. After twenty minutes the cluster was still at zero percent complete so I tried to cancel and it wouldn't let me,, it wanted to finsh clustering. I don't have hours to wait so I "ctrl, alt, del" and ended PT program. I then restarted my comp and went into PT and just selected "Udate Cache" it has been running for twenty-five minutes and still at 0% complete!! WTF

*I have 180K hands in my database, and last cluster, analyzed, vacumed at like 100K hands. Is something not working properly of is it supposed to take this long?? (at this rate total housekeeping may take years!!

*Also, the "Documentation" stuff doesn't have any documentation dealing w/ the new housekeeping methods and explaing how long things should take and how often they should be done.. It would be nice that when you release a new version of the program you also released complementry documentation to support it!

*As a general statement, I have been a loyal PT customer and user for the last year and am very disapointed w/ the functionality/ease of use of the new PT3. You guys should have delayed the commerical relase until the beta program was up to snuff. Seriously, you guys have many paying customers wasting there valuable time dealing w/ problems that should have been taken care before you asked us to ship you the $80 or wat ever it was.

Just to add information, I got the error message so I ran housekeeping with all 4 boxes checked and it took over 40 minutes. I've yet to use it with open tables and hud running, but the Table Tracker is whack now. Extremely slow search (one table per minute?) and then shows in the Available tables Table for FTP games w/ identical number of hands, bb/100, vpip, etc.

EDIT -- after reboot TableTracker search is working fine.

rbakirov, try restarting PT3 and redoing the cache update. It should be dropping the table automatically.

RiverRock55, the percentage complete is misleading, and I realize now I need to change it. It's not the percent of the current action (caching), but rather the percentage of all the actions selected complete (0/1).

ericp42, please let me know if this happens again when you update the cache.

Josh, thanks for your reply. I tried that before and after reading your message tried again with no luck - I get exactly the same error message.

I got the same error - manually dropping the holdem_cache and tourney_holdem_cache table (using pgAdmin) solved the problem.
However, I have to do this every time I want to update the cache, so "updating" would mean to build the cache from the gound up :/
Moreover, I still get the "unpopulated cache popup" after generating the cache.
Could the PostgreSQL Version I'm running be the issue? I'm running 8.0.3...

If you're getting this error, please enable logging, reproduce it, then attach the PokerTracker.log file to a support ticket. Be sure to reference this thread.
