if this thread isn't useful, i'm sure it will sink to the bottom of the forum.
i installed beta 16 and created a new db last night. it has a total of ~514K hands in the site summary displayed on the summary tab, and a total of 4.15M hands in the player summary on that same tab (i'm not sure which one to use when referring to the size of my db). i am running windows xp pro and pgSQL 8.2.9. it took me 1 hour, 51 minutes to cluster this db last night. i had plenty of room for the cluster to run.
BTW -- i've observed the disk activity for clusters and defrags numerous times, and i'm pretty sure that the cluster runs much faster if you have large continuous blocks of empty space on your hdd. in other words, if your hdd (or your db partition) is too full, the cluster will take forever. if it hasn't been defragged in a while (and therefore probably doesn't have many large continuous empty blocks), the cluster will take a lot longer. to summarize:
OS: XP Pro
SQL: 8.2.9
DB size: 4.15M hands
cluster time: 1h 51m
