another database login error

Postby DrewOnTilt » Tue Sep 02, 2008 12:09 am

It seems as if there are a number of database login errors cropping up as of late. I suddenly get the following error in the Texas Holdem player summary window:
Unable to login to database (pt3_beta15.2_nl_main). Reason: FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host "::1", user "postgres"

This is very strange, because I installed Beta 16 several days ago and have opened it a number of times since then without incident.

Today I set up a home network, and tweaked many firewall and antivirus program settings in the process.

I followed all steps in this thread http://www.pokertracker.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11203

and this one http://www.pokertracker.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6332#p38285

to no avail. I am running Windows XP. Help?

I just uninstalled both PT3 and PostgreSQL completely. I tried to reinstall it but got the following error while installing PostgreSQL:

I don't recall changing any of the user permissions while setting up my network. I am logged in as an administrator. What gives?

You did the 'net user postgres /delete' part of the uninstall, did you?

As I understand it, in Vista being logged in as Administrator isn't the same as running things as Administrator.
Try right clicking the installer and choosing Run As Administrator.

Thanks. I'm actually in the process of doing all of that now.

I'm installing PT3 on a new home network - I am putting the databases themselves on a machine running XP, and PT3 on a machine running Vista. If I understand correctly, I DO NOT need to install PostgreSQL on the Vista machine, only on the XP machine that hosts the databases. Is this correct?
