Feeder import error, tried everything.

Postby Peanut Juice » Tue Sep 09, 2008 5:08 pm

Ive seen this a lot round here and I have it.
Unable to begin feeder import process. Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3 DB). Reason: could not connect to server
Ive done all of the database starting and stopping
Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> Start Service
Ive even deleted that pid file.
After starting it I look in the task manager and it is not there under the processes tab.
I got windows vista if it helps ya.

I did notice something once when I tried the process again after restarting my computer. When I clicked to start PostgreSQL I saw some words in the MSDOS that pops up but only briefly so I cant remember them all nor remember them accurately. I think I saw the words system error 5.
I havent seen it again though, I might if I restart my computer once more though.

After you deleted the postmaster.pid file, did you then try to start the service again?
Did you have this running OK before? Have you installed or updated anything else recently, especially anti-virus software?
Are you using anything listed in this thread?

I did start it again.
I am a first time user to PT3, I have never experienced it running as it should.
The only new installations I have done are windows vista service pack 1 so that postgreSQL would run on my PC and the beta 17 of PT3 to get rid of the other error I was having.
I have none of the things mentioned in that thread.
