Running PT3 in general

Postby klever187 » Thu Sep 18, 2008 4:40 am

hello I am completely new to the PT3 software and figured it was plug n play. However, I have now realized its pretty complex. I am having problems running the program in general. The HUD displays momentarily while I play but will only observe up to 8 hands total and freeze. When I look at the auto import hands box it stops at 8 total hands but does not report any type of error message. When players leave the table, their stats remain. When new players enter, their stats do not appear. I have spent countless HOURS rummaging through the forum but cannot find anything that specifically helps me. I have the latest version 17 Sep. 2 and run it on vista for Pokerstars and Full Tilt. Full Tilt shows no HUD at all. Basically, where "Hand History Configuration" is, what file needs to be listed in the box? I have this: C:\Program Files (x86)\PokerStars. is that correct? And "moved process files to" does it need to be checked off? if so, to what folder? I have looked through all the read me's on this site also but they are superficial and don't help at all. This feels more like a class in programming for me.

Please Help I would appreciate it so much
Thanks!

Pokerstars doesn't actually allow datamining, but we are allowed to import 30 hands per session, so what you are seeing is those hands being imported and then stopping when it reaches 30.
Once you start playing, as long as you have Stars configured to write hand history files, then the hands will again be imported and the HUD will update.
Make sure you are using Beta 17, though, as it is needed for the latest pokerstars software.

It sounds like you don't have either Stars or Full Tilt configured properly.
Please check out our Quick Start Guide, and the site specific guides in the Documentation.

Yes I have the latest software and I read through those files and followed the directions. I went back to check on the "directory configuration" box and it reads "Pokerstars is not configured to save hand histories to disk." and the same message appears for full tilt. Initially, the program had "Directory Configuration" as the title of the box, but now, it has "Hand History Directory:" appearing with a box below it. while the other sites, that remain untouched like party poker, still displays the original message ^^. Anyway, what am I supposed to put in that box? or is ^^ supposed to even appear? I unchecked full tilt and pokerstars and tried repeating what the quick start guide says but that "Hand History Directory:" is the only box that appears now.

Thanks again

Click on the Browse ('...') button and browse to the folder where you have configured the PS and/or FTP to write hand histories.
You have got them writing files, haven't you?
Can you see hand history files being written as you play?

so far it's listed under "C:\Program Files (x86)\PokerTracker 3" in the "Import Status" after i begin auto-import this message shows: PokerStars: Loading hand history file: C:\Program Files (x86)\PokerTracker 3\Processed\License_2_2_2_2_2_2_1_1_1_1_1.txt but now hands are not downloading at all and HUD is no longer visible. Before it would download 8 hands and stop working. here is what i have in all my boxes:

Move Processed files to box: C:\Program Files (x86)\PokerTracker 3\Processed

Observed hands box: Should I have it checked off?

Store Hand History Text box: Checked off or not?

Enable Memory Grabber box: Checked off or not?

Import played hands box: Should it be "Current Database" or "Poker tracker 3 database?"

Import Observed Hands box: "Current Database" or "Poker Tracker 3 Database?"

Sorry man, I see how many people you respond to all day and I appreciate you responding so quickly. Thanks!

Move Processed files to box: C:\Program Files (x86)\PokerTracker 3\Processed
FINE
Observed hands box: Should I have it checked off?
ON/CHECKED, YES
Store Hand History Text box: Checked off or not?
ON
Enable Memory Grabber box: Checked off or not?
ON
Import played hands box: Should it be "Current Database" or "Poker tracker 3 database?"
CURRENT
Import Observed Hands box: "Current Database" or "Poker Tracker 3 Database?"
CURRENT
You will only need to change these if you move to having multiple databases later.

On the PokerStars Configuration tab/section, you should see "Hand History Directory:".
This should be configured to something like: "C:\Program Files\PokerStars\HandHistory\"

You should also have configured the Pokerstars software itself to write hand histories, using Options -> Instand Hand History Options. Have you done this? This is where you specify the folder I mention above. Hand history files should be being written here while you play.

("Checked off" is a really misleading phrase - I assume by that you mean "checked", i.e. "enabled", yes?)

sweeeet. Yeah I never did the hand history thing on PS or FTP. K here's the status. Looks like almost Everything is running correctly on FTP. HUD is displaying in the right place and everything. Except, when I double click on players stats so that the window with the detailed information shows it will not pop up. I tried tweaking things on the HUD options but it wont work. PS won't record after 30 hands like you said, but, what happens then? It wont record anymore hands? do i have to do something?and, Should I save hand history for more than 30 days on PS? will my info be erased or something after 30 days? I opened a new window on PS and stats don't show anymore after I hit 30 hands at the other table i moved to test it and it would not show. So far looks like things are beginning to work.

thanks!

When you are PLAYING at pokerstars, it will write hand histories for you, as long as you have configured it as I said. Pt3 will then import these hands too, as long as you have auto import configured to look in the correct folder.

To get the popup to show, just single left click.

If it doesn't work, have a look at the HUD config window, Groups tab - select 'Player Stats' and check that the Popup: field says "Default Popup" (not 'none').
Have you actually changed the layout at all? If not, the easiest thing is to reset to the default layout.

On PS it will show hands being imported up until 26 hands and then stop. When I moved to another table stats would not show any longer and hands would not be imported. Hmmmm, the HUD display I customized a little and have it on player stats , show on table for everyone. If i put it on default pop-up, show on table for everyone, the huge detailed boxes appear for everyone but i can't close them. Left click used to work before I used "hand importing option" from each site. How can I get PS to use the HUD permanently? I have the hands being imported into my hand history folder on my computer but it no longer imports hands after 26 total. Ok i restarted the program and PS and it stopped on hand number 17 this time and none of the stats were changing after that either. I left to another table after that to see if at least the HuD would appear but it didn't either. I don't know what to do...

Actually it did start another table but im sure it'll stop at 17 or so hands again though

Please read this carefully.

You have to tell the group which is shown on the table which popup group to display when it is clicked.

Are you playing tournaments?
Is this when you get moved to another table?

Please answer this:
1. Is PokerStars configured to write hand history files? Options -> Instand Hand History Options (in pokerstars software)
2. Are these files actually being written?
