Session Stats - Hand No. Discrepancy

Postby brayza » Fri Oct 03, 2008 6:01 am

Hi,

I have noticed that sometimes when i play a poker session, then look back at my stats after wards in PT3 that there is sometimes a difference in the total number of hands played.
For example:

When I set a filter to only display stats for 19th September 2008, it says under the "General tab" that I have played a total of 435 hands.
But when u look under the "Hands" tab, the total hands says 113. This is within my own player stats of course.

Please note that up until recently i have been auto importing all hands into a single database. However, about a week ago, I created a new DB for imported hands and changed the Database preferences to import observed hands into it.

Would this have something to do with it? The weird thing is, I swear this has happened on other sessions (before i implemented an observed hands separate DB), but when I go back over those sessions now, there is no longer a difference between total hands in those two aforementioned tabs. Its almost like its fixed itself and moved a bunch of hands into the observed hands DB. But if that was the case, why is there still such a discrepancy in this session that i just mentioned? Also, the example session was at Pokerstars which cap the amount of allowed observed hands you can import anyways...

I will keep going thru my old sessions to see if i can find anymore such sessions..

I am running PT3 build 3, although only just installed Build 3 today, all my prior sessions have generally been imported into the latest Beta release at the time.
Also running PT3 on Windows Vista Home Premium x64 based PC.

Any help or explainations on this would be much appreciated.

regards,
Brayza

Please read the link on the General tab when you have a filter set.

Do you play past midnight?
If so, you should set the 'my day starts at' option on the Settings tab to a time you never play, like 5am.

Thanks Whiterider.
I realised that part of the session i was filtering was during the early hours of the following day - the 20th Sept.
When I changed the filter to show between 19th-20th sept all hands were shown.

Could you please explain to me the benefit of using a seperate database to import observed hands into?

thanks.

For small or medium databases there is no need to have a separate observed hands DB, it's really for large scale datamining, see the Basics section of the Database / Postgres FAQ.
"How many hands can I import into a single database?"
