Two import errors that always come up

Postby Chaser8 » Wed May 21, 2008 12:01 pm

I'm in the midst of converting my 5million hands db from PT2 into PT3. Due to hdd space, I had to export to hand history files from PT2 and then import them into PT3.

The import is going well except for two importing errors that have been coming up very frequently. They are:

2008/05/21 02:58:27: Invalid pot size/winnings for hand #928890684 (Line #5596)
2008/05/21 02:58:28: Unable to import hand. Reason: Unable to execute query: COPY holdem_hand_summary FROM STDIN;; Reason: Fatal Error (ERROR: numeric field overflow DETAIL: A field with precision 4, scale 2 must round to an absolute value less than 10^2. CONTEXT: COPY holdem_hand_summary, line 55, column amt_rake: "453.00" )

None of my FTP hands had any errors, but my IPoker and PartyPoker hands are littered with these errors. Together, out of 5million hands, there are 10,000 of these errors.

What could be wrong?

Are some of your hands "observed" using a 3rd party application?
Please attach some of the hands which don't import correctly to the Support system and link to this thread.

Yes IPoker is datamined using EyePoker and Party is datamined using Free Party Hands Grabber (FreePHG)

but what's weird is that these hands that seemingly has problems have gone through PT2 without a problem.

The hand history files that I'm importing into PT3 are files that are exported using PT2

PT3 is now more strict about the structure of the HH files. I came across a few of these errors myself with hands that previously imported into PT3 betas ok, but Josh assures me that they are incorrectly formatted.

Does that mean that the hands that are 'incorrectly formatted' are good for nothing now or should I still send you guys a sample of HH files that are deemed incorrectly formatted so that you can make some changes to PT3?

Personally I think it's a shame to "lose" these hands, but it's dangerous to bodge an import to work if the hands aren't correct - at some point it's going to introduce problems.
I wouldn't delete the files just yet, but I doubt they will be of any use. Let's see what Josh says when he has time.

Most of the errors occur from a bug in Party where the preflop actions are placed in the hand history backwards. This results in completely incorrect preflop stats, which also lead to incorrect postflop stats. There are a few bugs in build 2 that have been resolved for the next build though, so don't delete those hands yet.

Have these issues been corrected in beta 14?

I'm reimporting some party hands and I'm getting the 'Invalid pot size/winnings' error for 450 hands out of 82,000 hands I'm importing.

Also, can these errors be avoided if I convert my PT2 database to PT3 database directly?

Some more import errors were fixed in beta 14, though i'm not sure exactly what they were. HAve you tried b14?
These errors are generated when importing hands into PT3 due to the hand history text, so it won't make any difference where they come from as the text content will be the same.
