Blue Screen of Death Revisited

Postby biggdogg » Thu Jul 03, 2008 12:14 pm

So it happened again during play...the blue screen of death. This time I noted the error code:

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001904AA, 0x86A78770, 0x86A7846C, 0x807C2922)
*** fltmgr.sys - Address 807C2922 base at 807A6000, Datestamp 47918a6a

I am using PT3 v3.00 beta 14 on Windows Vista Home Premium and the only other software running when it happened were PostgreSQL 8.2, the PokerStars client and Kapersky Internet Security 6.0.2. My computer is about 18 months old and I had never had any problems until I installed PT3 a few weeks ago. Since then I had about 8 or 9 Blue Screens of Death and PT3 was always running when it happened.

the fltmgr.sys is the Microsoft file system manager (there was an error during writing operations on the HDD).

try running chkdsk and a defrag for starters - also you could check the hdd pata/sata connectors between hdd'sand mobo...

defrag showed nothing out of the ordinary and I ran chkdsk the last time when I had a bluescreen and there were no problems on my hdd. but I'll do it again tonight. maybe it is my hdd that is causing the bluescreen, I really don't know, but it's just strange that the problems only started after installing PT3. Is there anything else I can do? Maybe I'll try installing a second hdd.

good - i'm not wanting to be the bringer of bad news here; but just in case the bsod is caused by a corruption in your existing db...

let me do a bit of postgres digging around and i'll post back what i find in an hour or so...

...I sure hope so!

I have Kaspersky Internet Security running at all times, which includes firewall, virus scanner, anti-spyware. I use a script blocker while surfing the net with Firefox, I use Secunia PSI to stay up to date with security patches...so I think I'm doing all I can to stay virus free.
