Good morning,
PT2 is running well with postgres8.2. OK.
Does need PT3 postgres8.3 or can i use the v.8.2; if not, can i v.8.2 upgrade (how to???) or i have to install postgres8.3?
Thank in advance

You can use PT3 with 8.2, and I would suggest that you stick with that for now so that you can continue to use PT2 as well. Installing 2 versions of postgres, or trying to upgrade to 8.3 and make PT2 work will cause more problems than it's worth, initially.
Once you have PT3 running properly and are sure you don't need PT2 any more then you could upgrade, but it's not a very straightfoward process, so don't do it till you need to, and then make sure you know the proper upgrade method.

Thanks for your answer.
Nevertheless it has come a little bit too late, because meanwhile i have already installed postgres v.8.3 and PT3 build2 (beside PT2+postgres v.8.2). And they both work :D : i.e. PT2+HUD with postgres v.8.2 AND PT3 with postgres v.8.3. I haven't converted the PT2 databases yet (although i tried and it will work), because i'd like to follow your advice, and use PT3 with postgres v.8.2.
And hier is the problem now: how could PT3 find the v.8.2 databases under this circumstances? Under "Database Management/New/Configure PostGreSQL Database" i give the data of the v.8.2 postgres (port, username...) but PT3 finds nothing. Do i make anything wrong? How can i (i.e. PT3) reach the v.8.2 databases?
Or should i deinstall PT3 and postgres v.8.3 und dann install PT3 again and show the way to the v.8.2 databases?
Thank in advance.
Best regards

If you've got them both working, leave them alone. Keep PT3 on 8.3, you'll get better performance.
If you want to convert your PT2 databases to PT3 but PT3 can't see them using the Database -> Convert method, then you can use PT2 to "Export hand histories to file" (Utilities menu) and then import them (manual import) into PT3 - that's pretty much what the convert routine does anyway.
