Is the brutally-slow TT thing a 'known' issue?

Postby domino66 » Sat Jul 19, 2008 12:33 pm

I posted this issue way back here:
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8899

Just wanted to bump this b/c I tried running TT again today and once again it is BRUTALLY slow: at the 1-minute, 45-second mark (since search initiated) is when the very first table came up...then it took another minute and a half for the next one to come up.
I've submitted a support ticket for this and just now replied to their request for more info...just wanted to keep this at the top of these forums for others to see b/c even though PT3 is more or less unusable for my purposes right now, if TT were working for me, it would be a very worthwhile product for me...so hoping to keep this issue front and center w/ the developers.

The next release includes an improved cluster, which for some reports (including the TT reports), makes them run up to 25 times faster. You should see an improvement.

Downloaded the new version.
Results:
Ran TT for Everest using my tiny little 40,000-hand Everest DB.

First table fitting my criteria popped up in the search result window at 1:03 (slow).
2nd table popped up at 2:01
3rd table showed up at 2:50
4th table showed up at 3:39
Search was "complete" (after finding 4 tables) after an excruciating 4-minutes, 20 seconds.

Decided to vacuum, cluster, and analyze the DB as you suggested. Results upon running the same Everest TT search again:
1st table pops up: 1:06
2nd table pops up: 2:00 mins.
(search complete, there were only 2 tables b/c it was late at night)

VERDICT: NO DIFFERENCE FROM BUILD 14

I've submitted logs (no response yet). Just tell me how I can help in troubleshooting this; as I wrote, it's one of the few features that I could really really use right now...but as it currently stands, taking 4 mins to find and populate 4 tables from a 40,000-hand DB is pretty slow I think ud agree.

(Can I repeat my request that the TT window should have a STOP SEARCH button. In cases like this, I just want to be able to stop the search, but it doesn't look like I can stop the search)

I have no idea why yours is so slow but mine finds tables within seconds and just completed 68 tables in 1 minute 27 seconds. Hopefully they'll look at your logs & figure it out for you...

Good news / Bad news update:

Good news: I decided to try it on my laptop, so i installed PT3 on it, converted a few of my PT2 DBs, and sure enough, TT works like a charm, finding and populating stats for a dozen or more tables within 20 - 30 seconds.

Bad news: My laptop is NOT my poker-playing computer. My desktop is, and that's the one that is brutally slow.

What's weird is that the specs of the two computers are nearly identical (i bought them both from Dell within a month of each other)...if anything, the desktop has MORE juice. Don't know what to do here...

By the way, I know this isn't the forum for feature suggestions, but while you're reading this, PLEASE add to the TT window:

- a STOP SEARCH button
- please allow for the user to re-arrange the order of the columns, or perhaps even to choose which columns he wants displayed. For example, I really don't care about the avg bb/100, w$wsf, etc -- i'd like a menu of checkboxes where i could indicate which columns should be displaye.d

EDIT ^^^^
I see that it IS possible to customize the TT results window (the lower pane at least).
So ignore that part of post, and just get to work troublshooting the slow scan thing.
