can't delete database

i'm trying to delete a database in order to make room for the new db i'll be creating by reimporting all of my hands, but i keep getting this error:

i was able to purge the db, so i deleted all the data and reclaimed the space, but thought i should report this.

You're not running an import or anything at the time, are you?

make sure all any other open connections to the db are closed (other pc's, orphaned processes)...

you can also try the dropdb command from the postgres bin folder...

nothing was running at the time, and it's a single pc system. i don't know if there were any orphaned processes running though. i'll try to delete it again and see what happens.
