Can't start PT3 after updating to Beta 15

Hi,
I can no longer start PT3 since the update.

The first time I ran the update and then tried to start the program, it just froze on the startup screen. I left it in the background for an hour or two before finally ctrl-alt-deleting it.

When I later rebooted, I could start PT but got this error message:
unable to login to database (PT3 DB) reason: server closed the connection unexpectedly this probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request

After being told to reinstall the update, I did, but am now back to not being able to start the program.

There are multiple postgres.exe files running just fine in the background (bringing this up as it's been mentioned, so I guess it's relevant).

EDIT: As it turns out I dled the postgres version of the update, while already having it installed. I've now downloaded the non-postgres version and the problem persists, but can this be the reason for the malfunction and if so how do I fix it?

look in the windows system event log for any entries pertainent to this error and post back...

I'm not seeing anything related to this under the system log (but I'm not very knowledgable about this sort of stuff), under the "program log" (swedish XP, direct translation, dunno if it has the same name in english XP) there's an entry or two about Postgres but they don't seem to be error messages.

Looks pretty generic..

try dropping your firewalls...

if this does not work; launch pgadmin, connect to the db, File>Options>Logging>Debug, start PT, wait for the error, kill the process & post the written log...

Hi, after your post I dropped my firewall which didn't change much, but I also noticed that my winamp was crashing everytime I tried to stream music.. So, going from what you said about dropping firewalls I decided to uninstall my f-secure anti-virus (which I installed recently) and suddenly not only did winamp no longer crash but PT3 could start. Was still getting the error message about being unable to connect to the database, but a reboot fixed that so now everything seems to be working.

I don't know if this is a widespread problem for f-secure users or if it's just a cause of me running more than one AV or what, but at least everything is working so thanks for the help.

glad you sorted it - yes i think F-Secure is a known problem here - if you want to run it again you'd be best to contact their Tech. Support and find out if there's a patch for this problem...

..and I keep receiving error response of "unable to connect to database. Please check the configuration." from Configure PostgreSQl server. Please reply.
