Can't get PT3 to work now

Postby ukauka » Wed Jul 30, 2008 10:24 pm

It was working fine 15 hours ago. I have just started it up and this is the error I get : Unable to begin feeder import process. Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3_2008_07_09_231822). Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

Any ideas as to what could be the problem? Would greatly appreciate the help.

Same thing happened to me and I still can't fix issue. I tried rebooting, starting service, stoping the service then restarting it, and nothing. Looked for postmaster.pid file and could'nt find one (even checked hidden files). I did find a postmaster.opts file. Is this the same thing? One more thing, when I go to restart service, the dos box pops up and says starting service but then doesnt confim it's started or close the dialog box like when you do a stop service. Please help.

I'm not a postgres expert, so I don't really know what to suggest next, but you can tell whether postgres is running by looking in Task Manager / Processes for postgres processes.

It seems to be my problem is not getting postgre started. There is no postgre running in my tasks manager after I try starting it. What about that postmaster.opts file I found?

Sorry, I don't know about that file.
I'm afraid you will have to wait for one of the postgres experts to come along..

What if I just uninstall everything and then reinstall it. You think that might fix problem? Also which file is the PT3 database file, so I can back it up?

You could try that, but make sure you have good backups first.
Postgres does not store databases in single files, so you can't just copy a file.
See the Database / Postgres FAQ for backup info.
You can of course also keep a copy of the hand history files so you can always re-import if necessary.

Total uninstall/reinstall of pt3
