PostgreSQL filling 11,8 GB??

Postby Laur » Fri Mar 20, 2009 5:33 pm

Hi

After installing PT3 and moving all my hands from my HEM database and importing them into PT3 (about 2 mio. hands), the folder c:Programfiles/PostgreSQL/8,3/data fills up 11,7 GB on my harddisk. I have tryied to vacum the database but it does not help. Should it really fill up that much space?

Yes, I don't think that is unreasonable. Someone worked out how many MB/million hands but I don't remember the exact figure.
PT3 stores a lot of information about every hand, so the DB will get pretty big. Postgres is able to cope with these kind of DBs, though.

My ballpark was 1G = 100k hands for full ring, but I'm guessing you play 6-max not full ring and 6-max is going to use a bit less space. 11.8G for 2M hands seems perfectly reasonable.

[Edited to fix the ballpark estimate to actually match my ballpark estimate]
