Cannot conenct to DB in OS X

Postby dtwplaya » Thu Apr 01, 2010 1:26 pm

I keep getting ""Unable to connect to this database. Please check the config..." every time when starting PT3 OSX beta. It also recognizes I have an omaha license but not a holdem one which is weird because it has never been installed before.

I installed postgresql automatically with PT3, rebooted a few times, it didn't work, then I updated postgressql to a newer version, it still didn't work.
I have read everything I could and followed the direction but still no luck.

Any advice?

The Omaha license is currently free for everyone and you need to click to begin the Holdem trial.

Do you have a PostgreSQL folder in your Applications directory?

Yes. Nothing works.

Now I just tried deleting everything to see maybe if it was new version of postgresql that is causing the problem (despite reboot 6-7 times with old version), but now when I reinstall it must recognize some hidden setting somewhere because it does not offer to download postgresql again.

Using the latest OSX beta for PT3 and 8.4 for postgressql.

Also, PT3 doesnt quit without force quit if you don't connect to DB. Mild bug.

Also, I vaguely remember setting the default "dbpass" to nothing last night when installing postgresql from the PT installer. I did this with windows install too without a problem, but it might have done some thing in OSX (osx noob).

I seem to be experiencing the same issues. I cannot connect to database with Postreg and I have to force quit to get out of PT3. This is my trial period which isn't boding well.

What is my next step?

Thank you

i was unable to install Postgre from PT3. I rebooted three time - no avail so I downloaded 8.4 version from their website. What's different about my installation process is that on the tutorial they show a three column sheet with two subjects in each column. On my version it only has two columns with two subjects. I've looked at so many tutorials/forums my head is spinning. I'm trying to avoid paying someone $200 to tell me over the phone how to do it. He's the only one I know who is able to help people - LOL - sad.

Yea I made ticket but they only can solve by remote viewing, can't do that so guess out of luck.

I think something is not right with PokerTracker program as it doesn't offer to download postgresql a 2nd time after you reinstall it, even if postgresql isnt installed. I can't understand anything in os x, but I had no troubles in windows setting this up.

Would be nice if I could just connect, but maybe there's nothing to connect to, who knows.

Why can't you do the remote session? It does work fine on a Mac.
