Pahud on full tilt, lagging

Postby sura » Wed May 14, 2008 3:00 pm

Hi, while i run PAHUD my comp UC is too high, the whole computer lag. PT is on "move processed files", and I use on PAHUD / preferences : auto center + standard drawing (only options which make it work, i've tried all).

Is my computer just too old? Or is there anything i can do

thanks for your time

Are the files actually being moved? If the files aren't being moved and are left in the PAHUD directory, it can cause noticible lag.

Have you enabled the database cache? While it takes quite a while to create an initial cache, once it's created it will significantly speed things up.

You can also try de-prioritizing PAHUD. press ctrl+alt+delete and click "Task Manager". Go to the "Processes" tab, right click on "PAHud.exe" and try setting priority to "Below Normal" (and, if that doesn't help, "Low"), and see if that helps with your lag issues.

You can enable a cache by going to Options --> Preferences, clicking on "Databases" on the left, and checking the "Enable Database Cache" on the right side.

NOTE: Initial database cache creation can take a VERY long time on large databases. If your database numbers in the millions of hands (or even multiple hundreds of thousands), I recommend letting it run overnight while you sleep, and don't be surprised if it hasn't finished in the morning. It will speed things up afterwards to a noticible extent, but it takes a while in the beginning to get to that point.

Also, are you getting those database-too-large errors from PokerTracker because you are using an Access database and it is nearly full? There is a workaround for this, but at this point I recommend looking into upgrading to PokerTracker 3, as PT3 will not have this problem (it no longer uses Access databases).
