external hard drive

Postby pizzicato » Wed May 07, 2008 12:19 pm

Hi,

I'm out of space on my internal hard drive. I'd like to move all my databases to an external hard drive. How do I make Pokertracker recognize/find databases on my external hard drive?

Thanks

Would it be easier to reinstall the entire program on to the external hard drive?

Open the File > Maintain Database Names window.
How many entries are listed on this window? What are the file names that appear in the last field for each entry?

There are two:

c:program files\poker tracker v2\ptrack2.mdb
c:program files\poker tracker v2\ptrack.mdb

Copy those 2 files along with the file called hhdb.mdb in the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder to the external hard drive where you want the files to reside.

Then...

1) On the File > Maintain Database Names window, click the Add button, enter a description and in the last field, choose "Browse to find existing Access database" from the list and select the ptrack.mdb file that is on the EXTERNAL DRIVE. Add another entry that points to the ptrack2.mdb file. Then you can remove the entries pointing to those files that are on the C drive.

CLOSE PT.

2) From the Start menu select Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)
Click on the System DSN tab, click on the PTRACKHH entry and then click the Configure button.
On the next window, in the database file section click the Select button and choose the hhdb.mdb file from the EXTERNAL DRIVE.
Click OK to save all the changes.

Now, open PT and see if it's working properly. If everything appears OK, you can try deleting the ptrack.mdb, ptrack2.mdb and hhdb.mdb file from the C drive to free up space. You can also delete any file called hhcopy.mdb, ptrack_backup.mdb and ptrack2_backup.mdb as well.
