Cant get PT up and running

Postby morder1 » Mon Jun 02, 2008 1:43 pm

Hello, i recently formated, and trying to get up and running again... I have PT v2, and postgres(i think its like version 8.2)

when i open up PT, i get an error message "Database error- Error retrieving VERSION_INFO table. -1305 - SQLSTATE-S0002" and i keep getting these types of error messages after clicking OK on that..."
Error adding new fields 'total_addons' and 'addon_amt' to the 'TOURNEY_SUMMARY'

I have tried repairing the database in PT, and also through the administration tools(Data Sources(ODBC)

neither of which have helped me...

I am able to see my old ring hands but thats about all i can do inside the program

If you are using PostgreSQL then the repair/ODBC options will not work, they are for the Access database only.

Open the File > Maintain Database Names window. How many entries are listed on this window? In the last field of each entry, what is the exact value shown in each one?

before i formated, i only saved the big files that i had in my PT directory (hhdb, and ptrackbackup, ptrackbackup_2" and i tried adding them into my new computer... i realize i should have done a backup through PT, but only saved files...

I have 4 listed

1. My First poker tracker database... goes to c:\program files\poker tracker v2\ptrack.mdb
2. old backup- c:\ Documents and settings\all users\documents\ptrack_backup
3. Old backup2 - c:\ Documents and settings\all users\documents\ptrack2_backup
4. Old History - c:\ Documents and settings\all users\documents\hhdb

All are selected as access type, no port numbers, and "old history" is set as default...

I tried converting to postgresSQL, but im getting authentication errors... im pretty sure i followed all instructions to set it up properly

sorry for the trouble, and thx for the help

this is the hand history database, you should not have this file linked on this window, you should remove this entry from the window.

I tried converting to postgresSQL, but im getting authentication errors...

What are the exact errors you are getting here? Are you using Vista?

Im using XP pro.

The error i get when i try to convert database to PostgresSQL is:

Error connecting to the default PostgreSQL database:
101 - SQLSTATE = 08001
Fatal: Password authentication failed for user "postgres"

well i think removing that history file helped with the errors on starting up PT. it opens just fine now with none of those errors...

Go to the Start menu and select Programs > PostgreSQL 8.2 > Configuration Files > edit pg_hba.conf

At the bottom of the file are 2 places it says "MD5". Change these to say "trust" and save the changes.

Then try PT again.
