Cannot open pt4 'Unable to login to database (postgres)'

Postby Gamma4 » Sun Jun 11, 2017 3:11 am

My computer recently unexpectedly turned off while PT4 was running and ever since then I've been getting the error included below (Postgres database connection). I've seen many others with the same problem from a while ago but was not able to find an answer. PT4 installed my sql and I didn't change any passwords so database password should still be 'dbpass'. PT4 had been working perfectly for a long time and only now has stopped, A fix would be extremely appreciated, big mtts coming up..

Please help :(

(support ticket wasn't working for me either so i posted here..)

Locate and delete the postmaster.pid file if it is present (not "postmaster.opts" which may be there too). You can find that file in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.3\data\ although you may have a different PostgreSQL version (e.g. 8.4, 9.0) or have it installed in C:\Program Files (x86). Once it's deleted, reboot and try starting PokerTracker 4 again.

Click your Windows Start button then type the following command:

services.msc

and click on it when it appears. Do you see the PostgreSQL service in the list? Is it started, or can you start it? If the service is listed but not starting then open the Event Viewer (in the same way - if you type 'event' you should see it). In the top left section, expand "Windows Logs" and click on "Application". Do you see any recent errors in the top center section for PostgreSQL? If you do let us know what they say.

I'm having the same problem too, Event Viewer is listing several errors all of which are stating it's timed out waiting for server startup.

I'm with a lot of problems listed on number of events related to PostgreSQL. Can you help me to solve it?
