Click your Windows Start button then type the following command:

services.msc

and click on it when it appears. Do you see the PostgreSQL service in the list? Is it started, or can you start it? If the PostgreSQL service is listed but not starting then open the Event Viewer (in the same way - if you type 'event' you should see it). In the top left section, expand "Windows Logs" and click on "Application". Do you see any recent errors in the top center section for PostgreSQL? If you do let us know what they say.

Yes it was disabled in services. Changed it to Automatic and enabled it. Working Fine now. Thanks a ton.

Hi,

I'm having the same issue, there was no "postmaster.pid" file to delete.
When trying to start postgres in services.x it gave a "started but immedialty shut down" message.
On the events page it shows several errors, apologies for them being in dutch.

Please advise on what to do next.

Unfortunately there isn't any useful information in that screenshot. Please note the following:

1. I don't see the line you have selected in the top half so make sure you have selected an 'Error' line (the ones with the red exclamation mark') and not an 'Information' line. Anything in the bottom half for the selected line that states something like 'Waiting for server startup' or 'Server timed out' are not helpful.

2. For the bottom half leave the 'General' tab (Algemeen) selected and not 'Details'.

3. If the output is in Dutch please also copy/paste the text so I can do the same into a translator.

ah, but literally every red (!) (after it occured) shows a "timed oud" message under "general".

I did however see the following message under source "application hang":

The PokerTracker4.exe, version 4.15.21.0 program has stopped responding to Windows and has been closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, see the problem history in the Security and Maintenance section of Control Panel.
Process ID: 10a8
Start time: 01d6579ed6f85ef4
End time: 15
Application Path: C: \ Program Files (x86) \ PokerTracker 4 \ PokerTracker4.exe
Report ID: c124cdd4-6e06-49b3-8f3a-4f8d9c8c422f
Full package name with error:
Package Relative Application ID with Error:
Crash type: Cross-thread

also -don't know if relevenat but- the white (!) show the following
2020-07-11 11:23:11 CEST LOG: redirecting log output to logging collector process
2020-07-11 11:23:11 CEST HINT: Future log output will appear in directory "pg_log".

If you're using any security software (such as antivirus, firewall) see this this guide to see if that helps. Sometimes that isn't enough to stop some security software from interfering so you can also try temporarily uninstalling them, restart your computer and then see if PostgreSQL is able to start. If that doesn't work please send us your five latest PostgreSQL log files in a Support Ticket with your PokerTracker4.log file:

Possibly although if you reinstall the same PostgreSQL version to the same place you shouldn't lose your data.
