There is no postmaster.pid file in there, actually there is nothing in the data folder. Did I delete my database?
That just sounds like PostgreSQL 12 didn't install successfully so you will still have the data somewhere unless you deleted the original 'Data' folder where your database is. Since you have an v8.3 service did you look in your PostgreSQL v8.3 folder?
revigres wrote:When trying to start the service under Services it tries to start the 8.3 server which is set on manual but I get the error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Under event viewer I get the following error : 2020-01-03 17:38:41 EET FATAL: could not create shared memory segment: 8
2020-01-03 17:38:41 EET DETAIL: Failed system call was MapViewOfFileEx.
Assuming your data is in PostgreSQL v8.3 do not uninstall it (if you have then you will need to reinstall PostgreSQl v8.3 again) and set the service to 'Automatic' so you don't have to manually start it everytime. The particular message from the Event Viewer usually means security software on your computer is preventing PostgreSQL from starting when your computer does so if you're using any security software (such as antivirus, firewall), please make sure to follow the instructions given in the
Security Software Configuration Guide to see if that resolves your problems. If it doesn't what you can do is this:
1. Run a full system scan to check for infections on your computer.
If everything comes back clean temporarily uninstall all security programs (firewalls, anti-virus/malware, etc.). Disabling them or turning them off won't be enough.
Don't visit other web sites, download other files or emails until they're reinstalled.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Start PokerTracker4 and see if it will run now - if it does that means PostgreSQL is now able to start up.
4. If PokerTracker 4 still won't start go to your PostgreSQL v8.3 'data' folder probably in one of these two places and copy (don't move) the postgresql.conf file to C:.
Rename C:\postgresql.conf to C:\postgresql.txt and attach that file to a
Support Ticket. This file has PostgreSQL configuration options and your trouble could also be one of those settings is causing the trouble.
5. Regardless of what happens above, reinstall your security software.
