I think I messed up my database

Not sure why, but now i cant open my pt4. I did a couple window updates recently, but have successfully ran pt4 afterwards without issue. I attached picture of the 3 errors I get. The first one is in the middle. If I try to connect, it times-out and "not respond" until I force to close program. The last message I did nothing. I don't want to lose my data so hopefully you guys can help me thru this. I am not the fastest I am going to turn on the notifications to get back asap. Thanks in advance for any help you can do for me.

Locate and delete the postmaster.pid file if it is present (not "postmaster.opts" which may be there too). You can find that file in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.3\data\ although you may have a different PostgreSQL version (e.g. 8.4, 9.0) or have it installed elsewhere. Once it's deleted, reboot and try starting PokerTracker 4 again. If that does not help then click your Windows Start button then type the following command:

services.msc 

and click on it when it appears. Do you see the PostgreSQL service in the list? Is it started, or can you start it? If the PostgreSQL service is listed but not starting then open the Event Viewer (in the same way - if you type 'event' you should see it). In the top left section, expand "Windows Logs" and click on "Application". Do you see any recent errors in the top center section for PostgreSQL? If you do let us know what they say.

Thanks for the early reply. I tried what you asked. I went into Postgre as you said. It is the 9.3version. But nothing in data with that file name. I did the second thing, enter services.msc into run command. I got one postgresql-x64-9.3 - PostgreSQL Server 9.3 The startup type says "disabled". This looks like the problem. I don't know exactly how this happened. I may have disabled thru nividia program. I now have it running. I switched startup type to "automatic" and clicked the start running button (i think it said). And it started. So I thank you and I hope this works.

Yes that should fix it. After setting the startup type to automatic you will need to manually start the service or restart your computer and then PokerTracker 4 should be able to connect again.

Thanks Flag Hippo. It did work and I tried it again this morning still ok. But just now it reverted back to being disabled. The other options beside automatic are "manual", and "automatic (delayed)". I will try to set it to manual instead. If not I'll go back to "automatic". I may have to reinstall IDK.
Thanks again. I do appreciate it. I got to sweep my computer for viruses and such, maybe it will hold up this time.

It's possible security software might be interfering so if you are using any try setting the exceptions given in the Security Software Configuration Guide to see if that helps.

Thanks Hippo I do appreciate your help. I will look at the antivirus program about allowing exceptions. I am using Avast. If not that do you think reinstalling could hurt anything? Right now I thought I had fixed it, I thought my AROG settings (ASUS laptop) were cause of it. But it would work after i change to Automatic setting in Services. But by next day it will be disabled again. I go back to AROG settings and thats not it.

It's more likely to be Avast than anything else so I'd suggest setting exceptions first and if that doesn't change anything uninstall Avast temporarily and restart your computer. I don't think a reinstall of PostgreSQL would necessarily help but if you do make sure to backup your poker data first.

Hey Flag_Hippo, I finally found it. Just as you said it was in Avast. I had just downloaded an updater and cleanup for my laptop. It caused other things to glitch like my gaming mouse. I attached where I found it. I actually just subsribed to Avast Cleanup and after running that for the first time on the laptop I first started noticing issues. Took some time as I am not very good with computers. But hopefully you can find use if someone else has same problem. Strange enough I went to my "Virus Chest" and nothing was in it. So I was stuck for days. Then I looked at the Cleanup and found it. This is before i undo the disabling. It appears there were 2 PT4 files diasbled. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day !
