ugh - postSQL issues

Postby cjparrott » Wed Oct 19, 2022 8:28 am

i'm trying to take my hand history database from my desktop to put on my laptop to work on hand analysis.
i backup my database and then try to import/restore on laptop..... except my postSQL is an older version on my laptop...

so, i'm trying to now update it... ugh
nothing worked...

so i uninstalled everything and trying to re-install from scratch.... except PT4 is still trying to refer to the old server connections.... and i haven't re-installed PostSQL.... PT4 was supposed to prompt me to install it, instead it looks for an old config... i try to create new and get an error... why is this so hard

what/how should i do this? from scratch?
i want to install both PT4 and the version on postSQL that is on my desktop, so i can restore/import my most recent hand histories to my laptop

is there some PT4 file still hiding somewhere when i uninstall?
what order should i install?

please and thanks for any help. i've been trying for 3 days and it is the most frustrating thing ever....

If you haven't reinstalled PostgreSQL then creating a new database/trying to start PokerTracker 4 is not going to work until it's installed.

You can manually download and install the PostgreSQL version you need from here.

When PostgreSQL is installed successfully and a new database is created then you can remove the old database references in the 'Database Management' window with the 'Remove' option:

Guide: Removing a Database

If you want to remove those settings before reinstalling PostgreSQL the settings are stored in this file which can be edited using Notepad:

C:\Users\{Windows Login}\AppData\Local\PokerTracker 4\Config\PokerTracker.cfg
