Restored backup

Postby Simppaa » Sun Aug 27, 2023 3:14 am

Hello. I just finished 12 hour restoring back up session, database size 35xxMB but when I opened PokerTracker it doesn't show a single hand or any statistics in reports. So basicly it restored it for absolutely nothing as there should be also all hud profiles and everything but there's none. At the end of the process in last phase I got error that some cache index is missing so I clicked yes to build it before software restarted. Database file size seems that it took the space from harddrive but just doesnt show anything what it included, players neither.

What could be the issue and how to fix it? Can someone take a look it from log files and have a solution?

Go to 'Database -> Database Management' - do you see the restored database there? If it's there have you made it the active database? The data you see in PokerTracker 4 will be from the current active database only:

It's active and restored database is seen there but total size missing something like 500MB from estimated size from the restoring process. It informed also about some errors when the process finished but didn't specify which errors they were before it said something about missing cache register (or something like that) and do I want to build that and I clicked "Yes" and the software restarted. So seems it weren't finished entire correctly. I could do the process again but the "Processed hands" part takes forever. There is no any playing history and no players to be found, neither the HUD or popup options.

Processed hands are not required for the database to restore so please turn on 'Enable Logging' in PokerTracker 4 via 'Configure -> Options' and then restart PokerTracker 4. Next try the restore again with everything under 'Optional Files' unchecked (if anything is needed from the optional files they can be restored manually). If the restore fails again then create a support bundle via the 'File -> Create Support Bundle' menu option in PokerTracker 4 and then attach the resulting file to a Support Ticket where we can review your logs.

Me too! I was just going to make a new thread about this but thought to check first to see if its already been reported.

I have the identical problem with the identical symptoms the OP reported that I have been wrestling with for the past few days. But in my case I am backing up my primary system to and from my hot standby system. I am using backup and restore to transfer the database back and forth with full integrity, or so I thought. Both systems have identical symptoms when I test standalone.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help because I can use my standby system to safely test and experiment with and not have it effect my runtime platform. But I do feel exposed without having full backup copies at all times on my external storage and am more than willing to install it early for beta testing.

PS. This is the first v.17.x restore I have done since the release with the database update and addition of the new index (which, by the way, keeps asking to be added back in every time I test the restore).

There is a known problem with backups of some large databases - see this thread. If that doesn't apply to your problem then please turn on 'Enable Logging' in PokerTracker 4 via 'Configure -> Options' and then restart PokerTracker 4. Next reproduce your issue and then attach your support bundle to a Support Ticket. The support bundle is created via the 'File -> Create Support Bundle' menu option in PokerTracker 4.
