Notes Editor help

Postby Parket » Thu Mar 08, 2012 1:22 pm

Is there any help or documentation available for the notes editor ?
This thing is loaded with buttons and checkboxes, half of which I have no clue what they do.

We are in the process of writing the documentation on our end.

Next to the player name the black box is used to set a color on a player - click it to see the options. The person icon next to that is used to set a player as a buddy.

The B, I and U are bold, italics and underline respectively. They affect what you type (give it a try!). The arrow backwards is undo the arrow forwards is redo. The pre button inserts [p] for preflop, flop turn and river insert [f], [t] and [r] respectively. If you add these as notes to hands you will see the information in those lines appear in the replayer when you reach that street.

The checkboxes for the bottom section set what notes taken from NoteTracker display.

Thanks a lot!
Especially the separate NoteTracker section I was clueless about, as I haven't tried NoteTracker yet.

BTW, is it me or are the two undo and redo buttons kinda pointless. If I make a mistake, I simply use Backspace. This is a text editor after all, and I've never seen buttons like that in Notepad or Word.

One more question though. Is it no longer possible to see when a note was added ?
I think this is almost essential in note taking as a note that you had on someone from over a year ago is obviously almost without value compared to a note you made on someone a week ago.

Undo and Redo buttons have been standard in Microsoft Word for a very long time.

You are correct that there is no date stamp that displays automatically on manually entered notes - we got overwhelmingly negative feedback on that feature and hence removed it in order to streamline the design. You can, of course, always type in the current date if you would like for any given note.

Undo and Redo act on entire actions AFAIK, not on every single character :).

And wow for the negative reactions on the timestamps as this seems so useful to me, and I'll really miss it (I'd hate to manually enter date every time myself).

i have a separate question about notes: is it possible to attach them to tourneys (as you could in pt3) or only to players and hands? if its possible, how is it done? thanks!

We have a post release feature that will make this trivial for you to enter. In the meantime I'll make a note of this and see if we can come up with some kind of temporary solution.

One simple way to support it, would be to have a Date button next to Preflop, Flop etc... that would auto-generate the date as text, just like the other buttons auto-generate [P] etc...
Or maybe that's what you were thinking of already :)

I've been thinking about this well, but what would be most practical for me would be for there to be an option where I could just select 'show notes from last six months' etc.
