Time length to restore large PT4 database

Postby captnkrnch » Mon Oct 21, 2013 8:01 pm

Hey,

I recently had to re-format my computer BUT i managed to do a back-up of all my PT4 information.

I've tried several times to restore my database through database management -> restore->open the backed-up zip file.

First few tries, PT4 wasn't responding and I couldn't even get to the actual restore window that asks 'restore now' to open.

My last try after waiting 15 minutes+, I finally got to the restore window and clicked 'restore now'.

It has now been over 3 hours and I'm still waiting. Is this normal?

Should be noted that my zipped back-up file is 271,000 KB large and I'm running off windows 7 64bit Inteli5 760 2.80GHz processor with 8GB of RAM.

Thanks!

I wouldn't expect it to take that long - if you look at Task Manager is the PokerTracker4.exe process using any CPU?
If not, restart PT4. Enable logging (Configure > Options) and restart again, then try the Restore again. If it still doesn't work attach the PokerTracker4.log file from C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\PokerTracker 4\ (which you can access from the PT4 File menu) to a Support Ticket so that we can see what is going on.

My restoration have already taken 16 hours. Should I wait or restart? My datbase is quite large (over 450mb). It constantly takes 25% of my processor capacity. Thank you

The database is 450M or the backup?

I restarted the restoration, but it takes very long again. Is it possible that it will take tens of hours?

A backup of that size will take some time to restore - I wouldn't like to make an estimate because there are a lot of different factors involved, but it will likely be several hours.

I'm currently doing a system restore on a 20GB database (switching to a new computer) and the restore has taken around 18hrs so far... It is currently in the "processed hands" portion, which has been running for about 17 hrs. The program is still using CPU.

I'm wondering if I should continue to let it run and wait it out or if this is exceptionally long and I should close the program and try again.

Thanks

If it hasn't gotten to the database restoration I'd recommend cancelling and starting again with Optional Files unchecked - the database should be the longest portion not the processed hands.

I have the record, almost 48 hours processing hands. Still taking 25% cpu, 650 mb zip file. I formatted HDD and saved the zip file into another HDD partition and loading it from there. Am I doing it right? Should i keep waiting?
