Transferring Notes from DB to DB

Postby ShellysAshes » Fri Apr 03, 2020 6:00 am

Hi I have a couple of queries.

I'm considering creating a new DB with hands from just the last 6 months or so. The reason for this is, on one of the sites I grind I've been playing a lot of the same regs through 4 different stake levels now and have 10s of 1000s of hands on these guys - but I want to just see more recent hands for obvious reasons. I understand there is an inbuilt option to set these filters in the HUD Options Configuration window, however, I suspect that this may cause processing and CPU issues for me so maybe it would be better to just create a new DB and import the processed hands I require?

If I do create a new DB, I would like all notes created from the previous DB xferred. Notetaking is a big part of my game so this is imperative. However, if I was to create a new database of just the last 6 months and then xfer the notes from the previous DB, would I only have the notes in the new DB for players played in the last 6 months or would I in fact have all notes even for players who didn't appear in the last 6 months? So for example, if I had made an important note on a rec I played vs 9 months ago, would that note show up in the new DB of just the last 6 months even though the HUD would lead me to believe it's a new player?

So my 2 questions.

1. Do notes for a particular player xfer to a new DB even if there are no hands in the new DB on the player in question?

2. Do you think creating a filter to see just the last X number of hands vs players could cause some performance issues?

You can export/import manually entered notes via 'Database -> Notes' and when you import them into the new database it will transfer all of those notes regardless of the number of hands in the new database. If a note is imported for a player that does not already exist in the new database, that player is created and has the note assigned to him - so the next time you get a hand on him you'll see the note. Bear in mind NoteTracker notes do not transfer via export/import so those will need to be reprocessed for the hands in the new database.

If you enable that HUD filter in 'HUD -> Edit HUD Options' PokerTracker 4 cannot use the database cache anymore so your HUD data must be calculated independently each time your HUD updates and as a result there will be a performance hit which can delay the HUD populating. We recommend using the 'last X weeks' filter rather than 'last X hands' as that option can use the cache, and gives you recent data which is likely to be more relevant.
