Hand mining from Pokerstars

Postby Schito » Tue Apr 28, 2020 8:51 pm

Hi!

I‘m new here, currently doing the free trial. I was trying to get some hands into my database while playing at Pokerstars. I opened some additional tables in order to observe them and get more hands into my database. After a few minutes an error message popped up that I imported/mined too many hands for now and that any hand import from tables that I don‘t play on myself will be stopped for 30 minutes and then I could close and reopen Pokertracker and I can go on. Apparently that‘s a Pokerstars issue, they don‘ allow that. But that was after mining maybe 30 or 40 hands which is nothing. Anybody heard about that problem before?

Also what do I need to do in order to import/mine hands from Sit and Go‘s while I observe these tables? That didn‘t work today, I only got hands from cash games into the database. Pokertracker didn‘t take in any hands from the tournaments.

Thx in advance. Schito

That is PokerStars policy. Most poker sites do not allow datamining and will not write hand histories when tables are being observed in that way. PokerStars does permit tracking software to import 30 observed hands per session to aid with table selection and PokerTracker 4 complies with this.

So there is no way then to get any meaningful number of hands mined and put into the database?

No - that is against PokerStars, and most other sites, terms.

Ok thx but that makes the entire concept of a software like Pokertracker questionable because it will take endless to get any meaningful data of hands for all these players if you can only mine data on tables where you are playing yourself. You would need to play hours on 6 tables every day to have enough hands from other players that any HUD makes any sense.

If you play regularly you will fairly quickly build up a decent amount of data for stats covering the common situations, although you're right that it will take a while to get significant data on the more rare situations. Data from your own play is all that most site provide, and allow to be used, and PokerTracker conforms to the terms of all supported sites.

Got it. Can you please tell me one other thing. I wanna choose a player that I have in the database and I wanna look at his numbers, I was looking around but couldn't really find that, also where is a list where I see all players that I have data from? Somehow this is a bit hidden it seems.

To view stats for a different player you need to add them to the Player list in the sidebar on the left, when looking at View Stats.
Open the dropdown list and click 'Choose new player' at the bottom. Once you've added a player they will stay in the list so you can select them again later.

To see all players in your database go to View Stats > Results and select the Player Summary report from the "Report:" dropdown in the sidebar.
